"Landmark Light" and "Infinity Diamond Veil": The Two Types of Illuminations at Tokyo Tower
This is the standard light-up illuminating Tokyo Tower with 180 lights that make it stand out. There are two different patterns, the "Summer Version" and the "Winter Version," and silver lights called "metal-halide lamps" are used in the summer. The distinctive impression of the white lights is reminiscent of a cool breeze, and the light-up switches to the summer version on July 7th, a holiday called Tanabata in Japan, every year.
In the winter, lights called "high-pressure sodium lamps" with a warm orange tone are used. The light-up switches over to the winter version in early October every year.
The "Infinity Diamond Veil," which started lighting up in October 2019, features 268 LED lights installed across 17 levels. Each individual light changes in various ways, creating an infinite array of light color patterns.
In addition to regular lighting on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, which shines in colors designated each month, it is also used for special lighting during events and promotions.
